Ants
We've had a problem with "Sugar Ants" in our yard for years. I've tried most of the chemical controls you can buy. Of the chemical controls, Diazanon crystals worked best but are no longer available. We found a better solution thanks to a tip from Shannon given her by a friend who's into organic methods of insect control. Her idea is to use ground up popcorn kernels as an ant bait. We tried it and it really works! All you need to do is roughly grind up a handful of popcorn kernels (un-popped!) in a blender and spread the resulting grit on the ant hills. It's amazing! Within a few days you will see no more ant activity and no worries about toxins around the house! Give it a try. I believe it will even work for fire ants.

Glad to hear that the popcorn worked. I've been meaning to ask Mom everytime I talk to her and I keep forgetting.
Interesting! I had no idea. We don't have too many ants but I'll keep it in mind if we ever do.
I'll have Laura read this. She lives is Sandy, which is one giant ant hill. We used Ambdro or something like that, and it worked for us in Summit. Congratulations on finding a good solution.
